????Porter joined Harvard Business School in 1973. Thirty-eight years later, he is the Bishop William Lawrence University Professor. He holds the highest honor that can be given to a Harvard professor -- a university professorship -- and his work has influenced not just Harvard's MBA program, but those at business schools worldwide. In 2001, Harvard created an official center dedicated to Porter's work, which is called the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness.
